Before you arrive
First Visit to Korea: Your Arrival Checklist
A practical sequence for preparing your phone, hotel address and first journey. Tick off your essentials on this device.
Before departure: prepare the first journey
Save your flight terminal, accommodation name, full Korean address and late check-in instructions. Make a screenshot so you can show the address without mobile data. Share your expected arrival with the accommodation, especially if reception has limited hours.
Check entry requirements for your own trip
Requirements depend on nationality, passport and travel date. Consult official Korean entry guidance before booking and again before departure; do not assume another traveller’s visa or K-ETA arrangements apply to you.
Prepare your phone and a payment backup
Confirm that your phone is unlocked and supports the SIM or eSIM you intend to use. Check activation timing and whether the plan includes a local telephone number. Test your map app by searching your hotel. Carry more than one payment option and ask about transport-card purchase and top-up conditions before choosing a product.
At the airport: take one step at a time
Collect your luggage, connect to a reliable network and confirm the correct boarding point. Compare your door-to-door journey rather than only the rail or bus segment. Allow for immigration, baggage, a station transfer and the final walk. If you arrive late, check the last service before buying a ticket.
Your first evening: keep the plan small
Drop your bags, locate your nearest station entrance and choose one nearby meal. Save tomorrow’s first destination and check its opening day. Avoid scheduling a distant attraction immediately after a long flight.
